THE FILM was launched in 2003 by Michael Gentile, former television (M6, Canal+, Paris Première) and radio producer (Oui Fm, Radio Nova). The company aims to produce one to two long features a year, favoring, in an eclectic manner, films and filmmakers with distinct cinematic universes.
THE FILM received the IFCIC Prize for the young independent production company in 2010. Michael Gentile has produced established writer-directors (Julie Delpy, Julien Rappeneau), international filmmakers (Elia Suleiman, Atiq Rahimi) and numerous first films (Nicolas Saada’s Spy(ies), Frédéric Beigbeder’s Love Lasts Three Years, Julien Rappeneau’s Rosalie Blum) over the last 15 years.
